One of the most important applications is the detection and quantification of nitric oxide (NO) and superoxide respectively reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cardiology, vascular biology and in the biomedical field. In general you can detect and quantify paramagnetic species like free radicals, transition metal ions, metals and crystal lattice (defects) using EPR spectroscopy.
